Merlot 60% and Cabernet Sauvignon 40%
Agricola San Felice is a Tuscan wine producer with estates in Chianti Classico and Montalcino. It is most famous for its Sangiovese-based wines under the Campogiovanni and Il Grigio labels, and its Vigorello cuvée, which is reckoned to be the first example of a Super Tuscan. It is sourced from three parcels on the Castelnuovo Berardenga estate in Chianti, and is typically a blend of 50 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 45 percent Merlot and 5 percent Petit Verdot.
Bolgheri Superiore Bell’Aja is born from a net prevalence of Merlot grapes, harvested from the first parcel of the vineyard owned by San Felice located in Le Sondraie, in Bolgheri, in a suggestive and fascinating place near the sea expanse, to which small quantities of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are added. The must ferments in contact with its own skins for 25 days, after which it refines in French oak barrels for 18 months.
Purple in appearance, it exhibits a bouquet redolent of wild berry preserves, lifted by smooth notes of spice. On the palate, it is beautifully balanced and delicious, with supple, velvety tannins. Ideal pairing with ravioli with duck ragout, grilled lamb chops, roasted pork.
