At the end of the 19th century English explorers were on a discovery in East Africa. Opposite the island of Zanzibar lies the Kenyan coastal town of Mombasa, which is now the second largest city in Kenya. At that time, exclusive clubs were the order of the day and one such club opened in Mombasa: the legendary Mombasa Club as the first “Private Social Club”. Only selected members of the English Societe were accepted here and they served only exclusive spirits. Among them was also the Mombasa Club London Dry Gin. This was produced in London exclusively for members of the club and shipped to Kenya.
The Mombasa Club London Dry Gin is produced in a small batch process. After a fourfold distillation and the aromatization with different botanicals like creeping juniper, coriander, caraway, cloves, star anise and different citrus peels an unbelievably intensive and luxuriant bouquet is obtained. On the tongue, the gin reveals itself with a delicately sweet note and fine citrus and aniseed notes. The finish is pleasantly long and persistent. A perfect gin for cocktails, long drinks or for the connoisseur simply pure on ice.
