Dolcetto d’Alba 100%
Marchesi di Barolo is an Italian wine estate in Piedmont and the business was established in the early 1800s and this historic estate often releases older vintages demonstrating the age worthiness of the wines. The estate controls around 120 hectares (297 acres) of vineyards and makes a wide portfolio of wines from all of the principal varieties of the region.
The grapes used to make this wine come from vineyards situated on hills of recent geological formation, that have preserved a thick mantle at the surface, predominantly composed of limestone soil, rather loose, with a significant percentage of quartz sand and very fine silt, alternated with firm layers of gray sandstone.
The peculiar soil composition and the temperature-controlled fermentation enhance the characteristics of typicity of the Dolcetto d’Alba grape variety, that by nature makes a ruby red wine with deep purple nuances. The aroma is fresh, fragrant and fruity, immediately reminiscent of marasca cherry. The taste is dry and pleasantly harmonious, thanks to low acidity. The Dolcetto d’Alba Madonna del Dono expresses its best qualities in its first years.
