Clos des Ursules vines represent the finest cuvées produced by Louis Jadot. The name of this Monopole Cru dates back to the 17th century and the Ursuline convent who owned 24 hectares of fine vineyards, bought with donations received from local parishioners. One of these parcels became known as the “Clos des Ursules” when it was acquired by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, in 1826. Jadot at the time was a simple winemaker, this was long before the Maison Louis Jadot was founded (1859). This mid-sloped parcel is situated south of the Beaune vineyards is ideally oriented towards the east. On average, the vines are 35 years old, and grow in a geologically complex sub-soil which resembles the vineyards at Côte de Nuits. Of course, the harvest is done by hand and the subsequent sorting is extremely rigorous. This wine proves to be perfectly aromatic and clearly represents the terroir from which it comes.
