Chardonnay 95%
Sauvignon Blanc 5%
This wine is produced from grapes grown in several estate-owned vineyards. The Rossj vineyard, planted in 1984, is named for Angelo Gaja’s younger daughter Rossana (Rossj). Bass is Piedmontese for the Italian basso, meaning low, a name derived from the vineyard’s position. Pheasants are featured on Rossj-Bass’ label to commemorate the beautiful birds that inhabit the forests adjacent to GAJA’s vineyards.
Angelo Gaja was the first to bring international grapes, like Chardonnay, to Piedmont.
Rossj-Bass is a very inviting Chardonnay, graced with exquisite class and elegance, available at an attractive price point.
With this wine, GAJA applies the family’s classic tenets of elegance and purity to a brighter, more youthful expression of Chardonnay, to which a gently aromatic note is imparted by the addition of small amounts of Sauvignon Blanc.
Rossj-Bass demonstrates how well the Gaja family can balance innovation with tradition, also providing an excellent entry point to their winemaking heritage.
