20 months aging on fine lees in French oak barrels (new oak 70%)
This starts off full of conviction, with thrusting blackberry and silky cherry on the nose along with some peony scents. There is also a rich wrapping of oaky spice here too though, with nuances of tobacco, dark chocolate, cocoa bean and toast. It seems full of intent, and the palate lives up to its billing, with a wealth of rich and darkly spiced fruits, wrapped up in all that barrel spice, and supported by a structure of brushed tannins and correct, delicate acidity. It simply simmers with potential for the cellar, all texture, depth and structure
