This Syrah is probably the best expression of our terroir, coming from a truly cool climate. The Lo Abarca Syrah has a hard time ripening due the low temperatures and coastal fogs. This results in a wine low in alcohol and high in acidity.
For Syrah lovers, this wine is probably an unexpected version of a Chilean Syrah. As Jancis Robinson mentioned, “I would hate to get this wine in a blind tasting, as I would put it more towards Northern Rhone.” There are very few Syrahs that dare go so far in their acidity towards an herbal sight of the variety, which is a perfect reflection of the Lo Abarca terroir. The nose is floral and shows red fruits and spices such as fresh white & black pepper. On the palate it is delicate, with elegance and a firm acidity, full of red fruits. A must try Syrah from Chile!
