Nero d’Avola (also known as Calabrese) 100%
Feudo Maccari is an Italian wine producer located on the island of Sicily. Maccari produces a collection of wines sourced from native Sicilian varieties like Grillo and Nero d’Avola as well as some international varieties from vines ranging from 30 to 60 years old.
The 50 hectare (123 acre) estate is located on the southern tip of the island. Here, cool prevailling winds from the Mediterranean help to moderate the hot climate. There are 50 separate plots of vineyard land on south-facing hillsides near the town of Noto. The Olli and Family and Friends are sourced from here which are two white wines of the same vineyard, aged in steel and oak barrels respectively.
Deep scarlet-red in colour. Brilliant and intense. The nose reveals decisive scents of red currant and blackberry, followed by spicy and balsamic hints of black pepper and eucalyptus. This wine pairs well with grilled red meats and BBQ.
