Clément VSOP starts off with whiffs of crème brûlée, baking spices, vanilla, and the unmistakable sweet vegetal aroma of cane juice. The palate is fresh and sweet with heaps of caramel, bananas, and coconut but also grassy basil and mint that fade into the peppery finish.
Clément VSOP is fantastic sipped but also makes a great spin on some familar cocktails. Sub it for the rye to make a killer old fashioned, try it in place of cognac in a vieux carré, or it goes without saying that this rhum sings in a Mai Tai.
